Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with multiple challenges, both in and out of the classroom. I want to create a space for them to thrive, learn, and feel comfortable and safe while at school. I always set them up to learn and push them more each day in fun and exciting new ways. I want to develop a classroom for my students to be creative and have meaningful, learning experiences, and to build lasting friendships.
My students are creative, active, and are always willing to put their best foot forward.
They are learning how to become independent. Spending so much time together, my students know they can depend on both myself, as well as their peers to help them along through the day. I cannot guarantee work will be completed at home, but I can make the most of the time we spend together in school. I try to create a desire to learn and try to get them to challenge themselves on a daily basis. We always try and realize that sometimes we make mistakes and we learn from our mistakes; however if we don't try we can not learn!
My Project
Flexible seating will allow students to have the ability to wiggle while learning without being redirected. May times students need redirection when seated at tables. These balance ball chairs will allow movement while students are learning and increasing inner core strength. I believe this will assist many of my students who need a little something to keep them learning and having fun at the same time.
Learning is so much without redirection using flexible seating.
Students will be able to move and learn. The kinetics belief is that movement helps students learn. I believe this will truly help my students who are trying to learn but need a little wiggle room. This will allow them to complete reading and be comfortable while doing it!
We currently have a few and my students all rush to be the first to get to the table to use the chairs. They love them! When other students visit our room they all question the seating and want to try it out. It has helped us out in getting the wiggles out!
