My students are active, bright, and eager to learn! They are working to excel in all academic areas to the best of their abilities. The kiddos in my class work together and are building a strong classroom community making friendships that will be long lasting. They actively cheer each other on and encourage positive behavior, but being 7 can be tough. They need to get their wiggles out! Seven-year-olds are not built to sit sit still for 6 hours a day. They would benefit from exercise balls to sit on. Studies have proven that sitting on these balls improves concentration and focus. Movement increases alertness and attention.
The students in my class are energetic and eager to learn!
Their curiosity leads their learning. These kids will be successful in life, they just need their brains stimulated by balancing on exercise balls. Flexible seating will improve their focus and ability to learn!
My Project
Seven-year-old children need to be able to move. Flexible seating is gaining more and more approval as studies continue to show positive benefits of movement. "Indications are that the tiny movements kids make while balancing stimulate their brains and help them focus," says Dr. John Ratey, a Harvard University professor and author of books including "Driven To Distraction" and "Spark."
Children need movement!
"There is a neurological pathway that goes from your body's balance and move system to your alert system in your brain. Movement allows for alertness and attention, " says Diana Henry, occupational therapist. Improved concentration and focus are other benefits from movement when the increase in blood flow leads to better brain function.
Children need to get their wiggles out and exercise balls will not only help with that but add to their focus and ability to learn.
