This year, I have the privilege of teaching sixteen PreKindergarten 3 and 4 year old students in a special education inclusion classroom from a very low income area of Washington, DC. We are working in a small classroom setting to increase our verbal communication skills and master developmental skills we may be behind in.
They are very hard workers and are rising to the very high standards of academic success we have set for them.
Every day, they work extremely hard to stay on task with their academic, social, and verbal skills to be the best little scholars they can be.
Young learners need to get moving as much as they need to sit and learn. In addition to teaching academic skills we focus on having our students develop holistically. This includes both physical and cognitive development. Many of our students are behind in their physical development and need to strengthen their gross motor skills.
Using the Giant Alphabet Stepping Stones we can strengthen their gross motor skills and make sure they developing appropriately for their age.
Additionally, we will be supporting a healthy living lifestyle form a young age. The students in my class come from all types of homes and being able to be physical is a healthy way to relieve some of that stress.
Children need to be active every day to promote their healthy growth and development. Kids who establish healthy lifestyle patterns at a young age will carry them - and their benefits - forward for the rest of their lives.
Please help each of my scholars meet their goals!
