Think of your history teacher from middle or high school. Remember the one that would bore you to beating your head on your locker as soon as you left their class. The one that would sway you to sleep with their monotone voice.... Let's just say, I'm not that guy. It's my vision to use Bal-A-Vis-X
I have an amazing group of students.
They are a bunch of "characters," who seem to be buying into my idea of "Making history come alive." As a whole they are the kids that represent their parents and community very well. Individually they are hard-working, driven, students who want to please, and have a passion to get better at whatever they set their minds to.
My Project
My students need balance chairs with a rectangular tables in the classroom so each day they are exercising both hemispheres of their brain. I use Bal-A-Vis-X exercises in one of my classes every week. However, due to limited time and resources not all students receive the training. Bal-A-Vis-X uses multiple resources such as multicolored racquetballs, bean bags, and balance boards. They are a series of exercises that stimulate both hemispheres of students brain. They help them focus better, and in turn they accomplish more in the short time they are in class. Ever have that kid that can't sit still in class? I urge you to try these exercises, I think you will be amazed. I want all of my students to be able to stimulate both sides of their hemispheres every day, and having these balance ball chairs, instead of regular class-room desks, will allow me to do that.
I truly believe that this "project" will help every student learn better, faster, and become more capable.
In turn, some students who we thought were "too fidgety" have the same success that other "more capable" students are having. It's just another way to make learning easier for every student so that each student can experience success. In addition there are numerous life-long benefits from these exercises.
