The Bay Academy for the Arts and Sciences is a Gifted and Talented middle school in Sheephead Bay Brooklyn, New York. All 1,548 students are enrolled in Physical Education class. It is our goal to provide a culturally responsive - sustained education within our physical education classes.
"Cultural differences should not separate us from each other, but rather cultural diversity brings a collective strength that can benefit all humanity." - Robert Alan.
We encourage student centered learning and as our demographics continuously change, so do our students' interests in different sports and fitness regimes.
As our demographics have changed, more Asian students are enrolled in the school. A very popular sport in the Asian culture is Badminton. As we continue to encourage student centered learning based on culture and interests, we have been trying to add more Badminton rackets and shuttlecocks so all students have the opportunity to play.
Students are encouraged to set personal goals and each trimester there is an overwhelming increase in goals related to Badminton.
The only way we can provide our students with the tools they need to accomplish their goals is to provide the equipment they will need to practice.
