My Students

Good citizens. One of our school's missions is to make our students good citizens - ones that are able to make informed decisions and are scientifically literate.

Our seventh graders are studying backyard biodiversity with regards to protecting the environment and conserving resources.

We are excited and ready to learn how we can help leave a better Earth for future generations. We can do this by studying first the environment around us and then spiraling out to help the community and further.

My Project

By using the Trail Game cameras we can study the populations that live right in our backyard. We can learn about their needs and what we can do as humans to protect their environment while also learning about conserving the resources around us. Students have spent the last two years photographing the flora in the area and we would like the opportunity to see the fauna. The pictures would be used to make a display inside the school using photo editing equipment that is available in the computer labs. By making this a cross-curricular project, students can see that subjects do not stand alone and we do not learn anything in isolation. Everything is connected.
