This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a school counselor where where nearly all my students are from low income families. While everyone was trying to reajust from the post pandemic, another wave is hitting us at them moment. Imagine the anxiousness of our students. Most of them do want to spend time with their friends but Covid is making socialization a challenge for them.

Socio-emotional learning is a necessary skill that students need this year.

My students can all benefit from a lot of emotional and financial support. As a counselor working in a Title I school, the need for additional resources to benefit the emotional well-being of the community is a priority.

My Project

This project will help provide the students games to play after they eat lunch in the auditorium. Our eighth graders have lunch in the auditorium this year since there is not enough space in the cafeteria due to social distancing requirements. We want the auditorium to be a safe and healthy space for the students to eat and enjoy some games as they can't be in the normal lunch room settings.

Health and wellness are the most important thing our students need while re-adjusting!

Seeing so many feelings on my young people's faces inspires me to provide them with some stress relief materials to alleviate their anxiety and increase their will for learning.
