Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach Spanish in a critical needs area in Southern Mississippi, and the majority of my students have never left our state. Many of my kids receive benefits of free lunch, and have a hard time getting their school supplies.

Despite the hardships they face, I have come to love the spark I see when they come to my class.

Not only do I have the opportunity to teach them a world language, I get to introduce them to the possibilities beyond our small town.

They are soaking up language and culture in class, and I'm so glad to be able to be a part of it!

My Project

My class will be helped by being able to hear presentations and songs clearly in my Spanish class. The speaker will allow them to hear native Spanish speakers speaking the language in context to the objectives I have set forth in my classroom.

We will have fun listening through this speaker, but the germx and Kleenx will keep us healthy.

It is a distration to have students going in and out of class to blow their noses, and this will help avoid unnecessary trips out of the classroom.

I will also be able to hang student work with the tape.
