My students are between 3-6 years old and have a variety of special needs that range in significant developmental delays, autism, Prader-Willis syndrome, and down syndrome.
My students are approximately 6 months-2 years behind the typically developing child.
All of my students struggle with a minimum of two of the following areas, communication and language skills, fine or gross motor skills, academics and behavioral and social skills.
All of my students receive occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or speech and language therapy on a weekly basis.
Our school is a Title I school and the majority of my students come from low-income households and all qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
These materials are going to make a world of difference in my Early Childhood Special Education classroom. Can you believe it, not even halfway through the school year and there is no budget left for my little munchkins to stay away from germs and to write beautiful stories? Clorox wipes, tissues and paper towels will keep the germs away in order to increase attendance. The new copy paper and writing paper will allow us to write stories, draw pictures and copy much needed classwork. In order to continue learning how to write letters, we need dry erase boards, magnets and playdoh to make letters using different sensory materials.
