This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are beautiful and brilliant. Our class consists of multi-level learners. Our school is a high-poverty, Title I school, meaning that one hundred percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. A fraction of my students are homeless and many of my other students have houses or apartments they share with one or more families. Some of my students do not have a bed to sleep on. I've noticed they are hungry in the mornings and by midday. We are an extended day school where the kids stay later than a usual school dismissal time.
Our school is located in a high-poverty neighborhood.
My students work very hard every day. Our class has a ninety-eight percent attendance rate, which means the students rarely miss school. We value our learning time.
My students come from multi-ethnic backgrounds, each with distinctive cultural traditions. In our classroom, we blend our traditions to form strong community ties.
My Project
My wonderful students need pencils and paper to complete their classroom projects which they love to do. My students are often very busy in the classroom. We are often running out of paper and pencils. At times, not having these supplies discourages students to move forward. We are asking for markers to use on our boards to make math more exciting. We also need paper to use as scratch paper during our testing.
My students need many more pencils to make it through the rest of the year.
The sets of pencils will come in handy each and every day. We are learning so much that we constantly run out of pencils to do our work. They will finally have enough pencils to keep them on their learning path.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our classroom by helping students have the necessary tools to be successful.
This will make an impact on my students' lives for the better. Every day they will be prepared for class and learning!
