My Students
I am a second-grade teacher in a high poverty elementary school in southern Delaware. I have both regular education and special education students in my classroom. I also have a high population of ESL students who are either new to the country, still learning English or lacking language and vocabulary. I love teaching second grade! Second graders are enthusiastic about learning and becoming independent individuals. My students are so passionate about learning and work so hard to overcome their daily challenges from home and school. I am always looking for ways to continue to challenge my students and better prepare them for third grade.
My Project
Hurricane Maria had an incredible impact on many families and due to this, many families were forced to move. Lucky for us we have obtained several new, very kind students, who simply just want a safe place to learn.
Unfortunately, with the influx of new students, we are in desperate need of additional materials for our classroom library.
I simply do not have enough materials to support our growing class. The materials I am seeking include a variety of basic, everyday classroom materials like crayons, highlighters, and pens. We use these tools everyday in our writing journals, interactive notebooks, and other activities. We also need more yardsticks for our studies with measurement. We need additional star sticks for student names which are used to group students, call on students to answer questions, and much more. Our behavior clip chart uses fun colored clothespins with students names, but we don’t have anymore for our new friends. Lastly, the clear pockets
