This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kindergarten students are enthusiastic, diverse learners. Most of them are just beginning their educational career, and are looking forward to gaining knowledge in English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. They are excited to experience everything kindergarten has to offer.
My students are often working against hardship to become successful learners.
Most come from low-income households, and many are English Language Learners. They are striving to develop new skills in spite of these challenges. They work hard and are excited to learn!
My Project
As I prepare for another school year, these materials will enhance the organization and functionality of my classroom. When I set up my classroom, I think carefully about how accessible materials are to my students. Bins for leveled books, trays for paper and markers, and comfortable seating for independent reading and writing are essentials.
My goal is to teach my kindergarten students independence and a motivation to learn.
By allowing them to choose their own books and materials, they are able to work at their own pace. They learn quickly which activities are "just right" for their learning. In this way, my students independently differentiate their instruction.
