My school is small and tight-knit, with under 300 students. It's a true community school, serving as a center for the area, and the kids love it here. The teachers are invested in making the school a safe and nurturing place for all students.
The world is a book, and one of the primary parts of a child's world is school, so schools need to provide plenty of things for students to read every day.
I work with all five grades in my school, including kindergarten through 4th grade, and I try to make sure that I do all I can to make learning welcoming and interesting, so that the children here in our school will learn to read not just books, but the whole world.
My Project
I have two bulletin boards outside my classroom and the majority of students pass by these boards every day. Some of them go by them multiple times a day. 'Reading the wall' is something that happens outside my classroom and I try to make things that are interesting, as well as change them on a regular basis. No one wants to see the same thing all the time!
Reading, math, and STEAM are gently and enthusiastically nurtured by all the staff in this building and I want to bring more vivid boards to life - and make sure that I have a lot of quality options to change them often.
This project asks for an assortment of high-quality and professionally produced bulletin boards to bring color and information to life in this hallway. These include boards that target different aspects of reading and writing, as well as boards for science, STEAM (STEM), and math. I might be the reading teacher, but I love everything about school and want the students to feel the same way.
In addition, I would like a few things to help with my classroom routines and rewards. This includes a classroom behavior system, an owl chart, and a pocket chart. The pocket chart would be a blessing for the reading incentive program as it would give each student a safe place for their reward tickets.
Because I'm asking for a number of bulletin boards sets, I've also requested two plastic storage bags to keep all the pieces safe and together when they aren't being used. I want to make sure that all these materials can be used for years to come. Thank you for considering my project!
