My Students

Our school is a Title One School in a rural community. The school is 100% free or reduced-price lunch with a free after-school program to help with homework and provide extra time for computer use as most do not have Internet at home. Our class serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities The students are hard working. More than half​ of the students in my third-grade class read below grade level by two years. The class is made up of about ninety percent African American. All of the students receive backpack buddies for weekend eating. Despite all this, they continue to make growth in their education.

My Project

My students will love covering the entire front wall with the reclaimed fade less bulletin board paper. I want them to have a nurturing classroom environment. I think this will boost our learning environment. Also have a classroom supply of Ticonderoga pencils would be awesome! Somehow pencils disappear very often. In choosing the twig pencils, my hope is to have this as their special writing pencil. Hopefully this will boost their confidence when the final writing copy is completed. The desk top spinner is to organize my desk top. This will give more space for me to work with students at my desk in small groups.
