My second grade students are part of a dual-language program in Kensington, Philadelphia. My students come from economically disadvantaged households and are eager to learn. My students are 71% latino, 18% African American, 7% White, 0.4% Asian, and 4% other multicultural groups.
I teach Literacy, Math, and Science in English to two classes of bilingual children.
The other half of the day they learn Literacy, Math, and Social Studies in Spanish. They are an extremely energetic and funny bunch, and they deserve access to the most amazing tools!
These materials are essential for my students success. I have asked for paper, glue, index cards, a pencil sharpener and crayons for interdisciplinary projects. The wipes will keep our class clean and healthy. The durable folders and labels will help us keep our classwork organized all year long.
With these supplies our class will be able to start the year running!
These supplies not only reduce the economic burden on me, but also for my families. If my project is funded, I will not need to request any school supplies from my students' families. These supplies will guarantee all of my students start the year with the tools they need to learn and grow in 2nd grade!
