My students need basic supplies to let their creativity and resilient brains flow. Whether it is pencils, erasers, flexible seating options, or fun games. When it comes to having 153 students...they need it all!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. No matter what we make sure to celebrate the little wins together as a family each day. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing assignments at home because of lack of supplies and resources.
Teaching at a school where more than 60% of my students are considered "low-income" means that creating a comfortable and inspirational classroom is imperative. No matter the circumstances of each student, they are able to come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
My students are truly an incredible and resilient group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each day!
My Project
With a $62 million budget gap in Duval County public schools, teachers are forced to pay for many items provided in the classroom.
Many students in my classroom have entered saying they have difficulty completing assignments at home or in school because of lack of supplies and resources.
So each item on my list makes a difference in my classroom...The earphones, buzzers, and Jenga will be used during review games and differentiation of the classroom allowing a fun inviting atmosphere. Whereas, clipboards allow for students to choose a different and versatile seating option. The whiteboard decal will be put on each desk so that their desk becomes their own personal mathematical masterpiece. Last but certainly not least, the erasers, Kleenex, and index cards will go into the 'Student Materials' section of the classroom so each person can start class on the right foot!
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. I just need your help in getting everything through our door! The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in math allowing them to become the true mathematicians I know they are! Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality!!!
