Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need your help! All of my kindergarteners are English Language Learners. Imagine the challenge of learning to read, write, and do math in a language that is not spoken in your home. I want to make learning fun and exciting for my students because they deserve it.

My students are amazing.

I have 24 kindergarteners; most of whom come from immigrant families who live well below the poverty line. Their parents are some of the most hardworking individuals I know. Unfortunately, the long hours that these families work means little to no academic support at home. That means that we need to make the most of the school day and fill our classroom with the tools that make learning possible.

My school is dedicated to educating each child in a safe, enriching environment that respects individual and cultural differences, while helping students achieve mastery of California's Common Core State Standards. We have a school-wide college bound focus, and our teachers provide high expectations and academic rigor for all of our students.

My Project

Every classroom needs basic materials to run smoothly, and that's what we need! The supplies that we are asking for will fill our desk caddies and leave us with extras in our cupboards to replenish throughout the year. The pencils, glue sticks, crayons, markers, and colored pencils will be out at our desks and used by every student, every day. The card stock and computer ink will allow me to print the students' names and label anything from homework folders to book bags! The white binders will hold all of my students' work throughout the year. The birthday and Student of the Week supplies will be given each time my special Kindergartners are celebrated!

You have all heard stories about how much money teachers spend out of pocket each year, let's change that!

The biggest hit always seems to be a few weeks before the new school year begins. Each August I make countless trips to office supply and teacher resource stores. Starting a new school year with new supplies is a must. Please help my 24 kindergartners begin the year with the supplies that they so desperately need!
