Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school with a high population of ESOL students. I am constantly amazed by my students' desire to learn and the amount of determination they have to succeed. One of the best ways I have found to provide for all of my students' diverse needs is hands-on learning and technology integration. Technology is able to bring to life many of the abstract concepts that my students are learning about and allows them to interact with a concept, instead of merely reading about it.
Students who are actively engaged are able to learn more and at a deeper level.
Technology allows us to tailor education to meet the educational and cultural needs of the students.
My Project
My students enjoy both station labs and task cards. These can become a mess quickly with so many classes cycling though. Using colored paper and card stock allows me to differentiate the groups so that we do not lose time trying to organize and find lost pieces.
Using manipulatives for hands-on instruction is important for both our ESE and ELL learners as well as more engaging for all.
By laminating the cards and instructions I am able to reduce the amount of paper used in class and reduce the prep time as the same supplies can be used by every class and even multiple years.
