I teach in an elementary school in a coastal community in southeastern North Carolina that is experiencing rapid growth. Our students come from a variety of different backgrounds. I serve a high number of low-income and military families. Our school was closed last fall for 29 school days after Hurricane Florence hit our area and this year we were closed for five days due to Hurricane Dorian. Our community has been affected in many ways. I am thrilled to be back with my awesome group of second graders!

My Project
Our current privacy folders need updating! They are small and have holes and writing on them. These folders are used during assessments and other times it's important for students to focus. These new folders will allow students more space to work.
Bringing back some classroom basics will help brighten up our classroom!
A new calendar is needed to use during morning meeting and as well as to mark special occasions during each month. The classroom border and poster storage will help take things out of drawers and make more room for other supplies and student work. We look forward to these small but impactful changes!
