Each day in my classroom is a new adventure. I have the privilege of working with an amazing group of students, ages seven to twelve, with a varying range of special needs. My students face challenges in the areas of cognition, speech, motor, visual, hearing, social and/or behavioral skills. Many are also directly impacted by attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism or sensory processing disorders. This influences how they interpret and interact with the world around them. Their unique viewpoint has changed who I am as both a teacher and a parent.
My students challenge me to provide them with access to meaningful experiences and curriculum that will allow them to grow as future world citizens.
My students inspire and guide my classroom teams as we work together to learn academic, social and life skills.
My Project
We are a multi-grade group so, in our classroom, differentiation is the name of the game. I am constantly critiquing and modifying my teaching approach in order best meet the needs of every student in my classroom. Since many of the individualized materials are created by hand, basic classroom supplies are in high demand.
In order differentiate instruction effectively, we constantly need basic creation materials such as laminating pouches, dry erase pockets/ markers, velcro, file-folders, binder organizer tabs, cardstock, and scissors.
In addition to the items listed above, our supply closet could also benefit from new clipboards and pens for transportable data collection. Thank you for helping us refill our classroom basics. Your generosity will benefit our students with teacher-created materials for years to come.
