My students are in 3rd-5th grades in a self-contained setting for students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities. Students with these disabilities need help with emotional regulation in a small class setting through social skills training to equip them with the skill set needed to mainstream back into a general education classroom.
My students are at-risk and that requires us to think outside of the box to make them successful in the classroom.
We are a diverse classroom community. We desire to create a caring classroom for all students that serves as a classroom home away from home.
My Project
My students need to replenish basic supplies as we start the new semester and calendar year. I would love to create a closet of supplies for students who are unable to purchase supplies that need to be replaced due to financial need.
My students would love to have brand new materials to replace the broken materials they currently have such as binders that wont close and folders that have ripped.
They admire the nice, new supplies their peers have and aren't able to purchase replacements for their broken materials.
Please help us stock this closet and have the materials so we can relieve one burden off the shoulders of children who already have so much to bear. Students often feel stigmatized when they aren't able to have basic school materials of their own. Students should all have a fresh start to a new semester and calendar year with basic materials.
