My students need markers, colored pencils, composition notebooks and other basic materials to perform day to day activities in my classroom. Most of my students struggle to come to school with the bare minimum, this will help lessen that burden for them.
I see my students every day for their English Language Arts/ Guided Reading. I teach two guided reading sections to students who struggle with reading foundations to support the transition from learning to read to reading to learn. My other two classes are for students in standard English Language Arts for 6th grade.
Our school serves students in grades 6 to 8.
We are a public International Baccalaureate world school serving the Annapolis area which allows me to love kids from all backgrounds!
Our class runs on the idea of an interactive notebook that students design with notes and fill with work they do all year long. This allows their class work to be used as informal assessments to allow them to see their own growth. The notebooks are individualized according to their personal style.
These colored pencils, markers, scissors, glue sticks, and composition books will be used on a daily basis to complete instruction in my classroom.
The composition books will be given to all students to turn into interactive notebooks. The other supplies will be available to students in caddies around my classroom to use as needed. The donation of these items will lessen the burden on families and reduce what I need to ask of them at the beginning of the school year.
Our school is 67% FARMS, and some students struggle to get the necessities. Having extra materials and the materials already in my class will allow students to focus on learning rather than on how they are going to obtain the materials they need in order to learn.
