Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been given the opportunity to teach the best group of little people imaginable. I looped with them from first to second and am excited to have been able to loop up with them to third grade this year! At this point, we are truly a family.
These little people are absolutely amazing.
They face many challenges and hardships that would defeat any average person. They all qualify to receive free lunch, English is a second language for the majority of my class, and many are facing extraordinary challenges at home. My students are not average, however. They are extraordinary!
Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school ready and excited to learn! They come with open minds and open hearts and are the most remarkable and kindhearted people I have had the pleasure to know. This is shown day after day as they request extra time to work in place of recess, show excitement over every lesson or activity I plan, persevere to complete accurate work no matter how long it takes, extend a helping hand to classmates when they need it, and share everything. Knowing them has made me a better person!
My Project
Markers and glue sticks are basic school supplies that my students use on a daily basis. Writing and problem solving is more fun when they can explain their thinking with bold bright colors, make posters and foldables, and really have the freedom to create!
My students learn best this way and thrive with projects that allow them to create and use markers and glue sticks.
Unfortunately, these types of supplies are running very low in our classroom! A refill of these basics would be a blessing for my students and would help keep their engagement high. The students would love the opportunity to have fresh high quality markers that aren't faded and glue sticks that have not turned into nubs. Thank you for your consideration!
