I teach in a Title I school. My students are awesome, hard-working kids; however, they struggle in the classroom with reading and math. I teach intervention math and reading classes for students in grades K-6th.
As a Title I school, we all work hard to close the achievement gap for our low-income students.
We never want a lack of technology, materials, or learning aids to hinder the high levels of learning that we all strive for and know our students are capable of.
My students struggle for a variety of reasons, but I know with hard work and determination from them and myself, we can do amazing things!
My Project
The materials that I have requested in this project are everyday classroom items that we need. My students need new crayons, a crayon sharpener, markers, and dry-erase markers. They also would love to have new individual white boards to use during small math and reading groups.
New white boards, erasers and markers to replace our old, dirty, used ones would be AMAZING!
We use them every single day to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Using white boards helps to limit our paper use.
I am also requesting some colored overlays to help students follow along when reading, as well as a 100's chart for students to refer to during math groups.
