This year, I have started to teach students in a whole different capacity as the STEM cluster. I will work to incorporate the four disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math to bring STEM alive in our school. My students range from kindergarten through fifth grade, and I teach a variety of learners. My students are from diverse backgrounds, and my goal is that they all have access to projects and activities that support their needs. From students with special needs in our Autistic Horizon classes or ICT students to our more independent learners, all students have access to STEM-related activities at all levels when they visit me. My students are excited each day and enjoy a positive project-based learning experience when they visit my class!
I look forward to listening to the buzzing and chatting in my classroom as students try new strategies, share ideas and work as a team to become problem solvers.
I am thrilled when my young learners experience something new or try something they never did before. Each day brings new and exciting adventures for all my young learners in our STEM classroom!
My Project
My STEM program is an all inclusive program and I work each day to meet the needs of all types of learners. More than half of the classes that visit me are made up of students with special needs. From our youngest Horizon Autistic students, to 12:1 classes to ICT classes, I see all of them.
I often have to modify my lesson or project so that all students can participate and it would help to have additional classroom basic materials.
We are always in need of pencils and drawing paper. This year we have already used so many markers and crayons, a new supply would really help. I also love to decorate my room with simple motivational signs and posters that all students can relate to, especially having a "growth mindset"! These materials will help engage all of my learners at every age and every grade both this year and in the future.
