Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach a diverse group of 27 students in a small, rural community. We have 14 girls and 13 boys in our room. My students are some of the sweetest, smartest children I have ever met.

My 4th-grade students need to be actively engaged in all content areas-especially reading!

They are hard workers and want to learn. They enjoy working in small groups, STEM activities, online technology, and reading books on their individual levels. Not only do they strive to do their best, but they also always try to encourage one another as well.

My Project

Right now is a scary time for Americans. Our world is very different and many people are out of work. Students are not in school and they are anxious about their new routine.

These books and basic school supplies will help my students have a sense of normalcy during this scary time!

I will use the books for read-alouds that I will video for my students and then post them in our Google Classroom. The folders will allow them to keep track of the increased papers being sent home in packets. The glue will allow them to work on projects and the markers will allow me to make charts for them. I want to give them a little peace of mind by showing that I am still here for them.
