Baby Birds Science Project in 3rd Grade

Help me give my students an amazing science learning experience this spring raising bird eggs in our classroom! This project will fund the equipment needed for students to be able to study and watch the birds hatch.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Class is known for being patient, respectful, and super engaged learners. A diverse class in every way, my students love to have fun and laugh as they navigate knew content in both Spanish and English in a Dual Language program. Almost every one of the classmates have been together since Kindergarten, and they look forward to continuing to learn and grow together through 6th grade and beyond!

These third graders have already made incredible academic and social-emotional growth, since returning to in-person learning in the fall.

A student who was an emerging reader over the summer and at the beginning of the year, began to read on their own just this past week. This is one of many moments to celebrate in our classroom! Though this continues to be a challenging school-year in an ongoing pandemic, students and teachers are putting their best foot forward to meet students where they are and make coming to school as rewarding as possible.

My Project

This project will give students the opportunity to experience raising eggs until they hatch in an incubator in their own classroom! Learning about hatching chicks/embryology and genetics is sure to be learning they will look back on and remember forever. My students love science and have done their best to learn and engage with content online during the pandemic.

Now, we finally have the incredible opportunity to make science learning hands-on in the classroom.
