I'm fortunate to be part of a school that strives for excellence. We meet students' needs with rigorous teaching strategies, and we expect only the best from our students.
My school is proud to be a Leader in Me school that works on taking the 7 Habits of author Steven Covey, making them age-appropriate, and working them into our school campus so that students begin to see their campus as a way to show leadership.
Leader in Me is not a curriculum but rather a way of doing life on the school campus through awareness of how we learn and grow, and how we speak and treat one another.
Students learn the habit of solving conflicts, and then they become conflict managers. This is just one way the Leader in Me program looks on our campus. Students take the 7 Habits that are taught to them and begin to think of ways they can take ownership of their campus through leadership. Whether it's a 5th grader helping a 1st grader to read, students setting goals and overcoming academic obstacles, or students seeing a need to clean their campus, these are all ways that the 7 Habits teach students to lead.
My Project
I am excited to have this project that requests the class visitor of the B Street Theatre to come and perform at our all-school assembly. This theatre is known to provide schools with a wonderful and memorable experience while making it very educational for all who attend. The theme of their performance will be centered around "Math Madness" and learning how to write theatre plays while adding in humor and excitement to entertain the students. I look forward to this theatre group coming to our school and students experiencing a once in a lifetime theatre performance at our school assembly. For some students, this may be the only experience they have of seeing a live play, and having this group come to our school to perform would just be magical for our student body.
