I have a class of 25 students coming from different countries and speak different languages such as Spanish, Maimai, Nepali, and more.
All of them are language learners with different lau code as in Lau A, B, C... Lau A students know only very limited English; Lau B students know more and be able to converse basic oral skill ; Lau C students are fluent speakers but not in writing.
They all speak other language at home other than English.
Their families are low-income and need extra support in terms of buying school supplies or other materials to help their children succeed in their learning.
My Project
My old laptop is outdated and its speed is too slow. I need a new computer to take with me to professional development sessions or school meeting to take notes; to catch up with the presenter looking up for materials or websites.... either at school or even at home.
Besides, I also use this computer for many school-related projects and activities such as reporting students' grades, communicating with parents; searching for supplemental teaching or enriching materials and projecting in class with a projector.
My students will be benefit from having a new laptop in classroom so I can access current curriculum and supplemental materials to enhance and support their learning. This can be utilized during the whole class and I can also used it as a center for students to utilize for research and searching for current events....
My goal is to help students reach their achievement goals in reading, writing and math through the use of technology more easily differentiate the lesson and assess students' learning.
I may also use this device to keep my personal learning materials instead of keeping them in school public computers
