My students need headphones to listen to educational videos and blended learning reading/math programs, without disturbing the other kids learning in the room.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Were you ever a student who needed to be pulled out of their classroom for extra support? How did that make you feel? We want our students to feel special and amazing!
I am an ESL teacher (PreK-5th) in inner-city Washington DC, who shares a resource room with two SPED (2nd-5th) teachers.
We want to make our room as supportive and fun as possible. Some students can succumb to the stigma of needing extra academic help, whether it is for a learning disability or English language support. We do not want that for our students. Therefore, being a STEM school, we provide technology, (Smartboard, laptops, iPads), blended learning, (reading, writing, math, and even typing programs) and educational videos (National Geographic Kids, academic Youtube videos, PBS Kids, kids.gov, etc.) for our students.
My Project
Being that we share a classroom, and we are all pulling students out at the same time, the noise level can get a bit much at times. This is especially the case when students are trying to do individual learning at stations, such as blended learning reading/math stations. Headphones would solve this problem immensely.
Our classroom will be able to run that much more smoothly with headphones.
We already have a very nice setup between the three of us, and share our spaces to create an organized, uncluttered space for our students to learn. Part of our set up is individualized blended learning nooks. Our students really need this quiet, private spaces within the classroom, so that we can provide one-on-one centers and reach each student's individual goals.
