My students love to move! The music classroom is where Pre-K through 1st grade students have the opportunity to get out of their chairs and have some fun. My students are always looking for ways we can keep class interesting and get moving. We dance, sing, play instruments, and creatively move to music.
I serve in a district that highly values the arts, so I take my job of introducing young students to the wonders of music very seriously.
Please consider helping me fill my music classroom with amazing teacher instruments, books, resources, and instruments for the kids to have fun with and to help them lay an excellent foundation for their future music endeavors.
My Project
A cajon is the perfect teacher drum for the primary music classroom. You can sit on it and use it for your primary classroom chair, while having instant access to a drum set.
My students need this cajon because we do a lot of movement in my music classroom, and we always accompany movement with percussion.
One example of a game we play is "move and freeze", where students dance around while I play different rhythms, then freeze when I stop.
The final use for this cajon is that I can use it to accompany out daily folk song singing. We always sing our folk songs a cappella, but a little percussion to help students keep a steady beat is a great thing! Thanks for your consideration.
