Do you remember a time when you said a word the wrong way? My students have a difficult time saying many sounds correctly, but they live in a world where they need to be intelligible in all speaking situations.
Welcome to my classroom!
My students attend a public elementary school in a suburban school district. Our school serves children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. I provide speech and language therapy to students with special needs ranging in age from 3 to 11. My goal is to provide the support they need to become successful, productive, and motivated students. I try my best to keep them engaged and active in the learning skills that they need to be successful in their educational experience. Of course, production of correct sounds is essential to improving student achievement in all academic areas, but it is a skill most of my students continue to struggle to master.
My Project
My students need materials to help them target specific phonemes. They need a flipbook, word lists, and interactive books of sounds to use to improve articulation. The resources requested will change my students' lives for the better because they will have the materials needed to practice articulation in a fun, interactive way. The word lists and interactive materials will support and enrich my students with a better understanding of how to produce sounds correctly. In addition, practicing with interactive materials will promote retention of information. With these materials, I will be able to help my students target specific phonemes and practice in a fun, natural environment. I will be able to work with individuals or small groups of students on skills necessary to help them meet the overall goal of articulation therapy - intelligibility in all speaking situations.

Currently, there are few materials in my classroom to engage my students in active learning to build skills in articulation of sounds. Donations to this request will make a difference by providing my students with books full of interactive activities, warm-up exercises, and big books of sounds and word lists to improve articulation.
