Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students are creative. Our students are driven. Our students have heart and courage. Young people from all over the greater Charleston area attend our school; many live nearby and walk to school.

The diversity of our student body is our greatest strength.

Although we are a Charter for Math and Science, our students have innumerable talents and skills that go well beyond their STEM classes. They are fully aware of Charleston's rich history and appreciate the city they call home. Simply put, the learning environment at our school is awesome.

My Project

Our classroom library continues to grow with the help of Donors Choose and generous donations from supporters like you! My students and I are grateful for these wonderful additions to our classroom library.

With each new classroom set of books or individual additions to the library, every student's potential grows.

Several of my students take books home regularly and have now been given the gift of reading the classics, exciting nonfiction and works on art history and world religions. I remember my best teachers helping guide me towards excellent books and I am forever grateful for their efforts.
