My Students
"Excellence is our expectation. We won't settle for anything less.
We can and we will do our best today!" This is our motto and our launch here at our little elementary school nestled in Durham, NC in the Research Triangle Park.
Our 2nd-grade crew of students are imaginative explorers who are inspired by their surroundings to achieve great things.
At our school, 93% of our students are minority students and 81% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We're lucky to be located in a larger city in North Carolina but there are still a lot of things this group of explorers hasn't been able to experience yet. This visit from the animal encounter team at the Museum of LIfe and Science will hopefully change that for them!
My Project
The Museum of Life and Science animal encounter will be able to allow our students to get close and personal with exotic animals that some have never been able to see before. The wonderful thing about this experience is that the students won't have to see these animals in a cage or enclosed space.
Our students will get to meet animal handlers who can educate them about the animals and maybe even interact with them!
This experience will bring a lot more depth and understanding to our science unit on animal life cycles. It might also inspire some of our students to work with animals in their future!
