Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My amazing third graders are thoughtful, inquisitive, caring, and loved. They are passionate about learning about their community and world. They come to school each day ready to face new challenges and take new risks.

My school is located in the heart of the California Bay Area, and many students face unique challenges.

A number of my students are recent immigrants to America and the first in their families to learn English. Some others have special learning needs and IEPs. Some families face challenges such as food and housing insecurity which have been heightened by the current COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, all of my students have returned to school for in-person learning. Many of my students are learning from the classroom for the first time in almost two years. They are eager to be in person and full of potential.

My classroom is a safe space where my students come together to learn and grow. My students develop empathy for others and learn about their own identities. All students are welcome, and we work to foster a truly inclusive community. We explicitly study and promote social justice, anti-racism, and Black Lives Matter.

My Project

My students are creative, artistic, and eager to learn and participate. They have formed a strong class community and have already made huge gains in learning this year. As their teacher, I work to make our time together meaningful and impactful.

This project will fund gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers, which I can use to purchase important lessons and activities for my students.

For example, I plan to purchase reading and phonics activities to specifically target and support my English Learners. I also plan to invest in a Social Emotional curriculum and activities, which I know will have a lasting impact on my students.

I currently purchase many wonderful resources for my students through Teachers Pay Teachers, but also this money comes out of my own pocket. This project will help me to continue to provide these same amazing resources for my deserving students. Thank you for supporting students and teachers by helping us have the resources we need to succeed!
