My students are progress oriented. Each child sets multiple goals on a regular basis and they work hard to meet their individual goals.
In my classroom, we celebrate making progress and attaining goals.
For each student, their goal is different and they use different means to get to their goal. At any time, you could come into my classroom and my students will be able to tell you their goal and what they are doing to achieve it.
These kids are special to me.
By the time students get to 5th grade, it can be hard to motivate them to do well behaviorally and academically. I use a token economy system in my class, which means that students get "paid" for doing a job well done as a student.
Students love rewards, especially candy!
My students will be able to purchase these rewards on a bi-weekly basis based on the amount of "money" they have made over those weeks. Students can also choose to save their "money" until the end of the nine weeks to buy even larger prizes.
My goal is to have these rewards last all year long.
