My Students

My students are an extremely gifted and talented group of musicians that use my band as an outlet to express themselves and a source of pride for our school community. With a majority of them coming from low socioeconomic backgrounds and our school having a 90% English Language Learner population, music becomes the international language to unite students.

Likewise several special education and at risk students are also part of the band and benefit from our music program that has earned both national and local awards.

My Project

The student musicians I have the privilege to work with everyday at H.H.S. have won a number of awards ranging from Tournament Sweepstakes to Band Championship Awards. In order to win these prestigious awards, we have had to discipline ourselves and practice, practice, practice! As a result, our instruments have gotten a lot of wear and tear. We need new Double Bass Strings to replace all of the old, worn out ones. This project will not only help my students practice and transform their lives as musicians, but it will help us earn more and more awards that bring pride to our school. Your contribution will help my students gain mastery of their favorite craft: music!
