Our class is full of excited and eager learners! We are a hands-on group who love to learn in many different ways. Each student is unique in their needs and learning styles. We love working together in groups and learning from each other.
My class ranges in ability from emerging readers, who are just beginning to put sounds together to read words, to those who are already reading above grade level.
Being able to meet the needs of all of my students is something I strive to do on a daily basis.
With the addition of these books to my classroom library, my students will have a chance to participate in reading the Sunshine State Junior books for the current school year and will have the chance to earn rewards for doing so! The mission of SSYRA Jr "is to develop student interest in reading for pleasure by exposing them to a wide range of appropriate literature." According to the program guidelines, these books are selected for "their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation." Exploring new authors and genres through the SSYRA Jr. books will open their eyes to the joys of reading and the possibilities reading offers to them. The books will be used for independent reading, buddy reading, and teacher read alouds! I love the look in their eyes when their imaginations begin to run wild while reading quality literature that they can relate to! When kids get excited about reading, the possibilities are endless.
