Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the first time that you went to first grade and how excited you were to see all of the books and supplies in your classroom? I want my students to experience that same joy.
I currently teach 26 very sweet first graders in a Title I school located in a high poverty and high crime area in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken.
My Project
I would love to provide my students with award winning books for our classroom library. These books would be used for our read aloud time and for our reading center. It is my wish to give each of my students their own pencil case with sharpened pencils. We would use these pencils for our daily journal writing. In addition, it would be wonderful if my students had number lines to help them with their math problems. Many of them are struggling with simple addition and subtraction facts. The math activity book would provide them with extra math support. The center signs would provide my students with where they are supposed to go during center time.
Please help my students get these wonderful books and school supplies in order to help them be the best that they can be.
We appreciate any support that you could give my first graders. Thanks so much.
