This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As students who live in the center of the city, the kids in my class come with a wide array of experiences and backgrounds. Each student brings with them their own family culture creating a diverse environment where learning extends past the academics. In my classroom, I encourage a challenging and engaging experience where students learn empathy, kindness, and critical thinking every single day.
This being my first year teaching alone, I am very excited to create a classroom where students feel safe, welcomed, and challenged.
My Project
Being in a school with limited access to technology means that we share our iPads and computers. For that reason, we don't have consistent access to the technology we need to grow our students into the tech-savvy people they need to be to thrive in this new world! Having iPads designated to our classroom would help us tremendously in our pursuit of technological learning.
I would love to give my students access to programs that encourage them to become coders, engineers, software developers, or whatever else they may desire.
If kids have no exposure to these fields now, they could be miss out on the opportunity to develop skills that they may turn out to be naturals at. I plan to use our tablets to tap into the potential techies hiding beneath the surface of my students!
