Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My AVID class is filled with amazing kids! They are determined to do well in school and prepare for the future. AVID's mission is to help close the achievement gap and provide assistance to students as they challenge themselves academically.
AVID students collaborate often to help lift each other up.
They work on many skills in class to be future ready, including leadership, public speaking, writing, reading, organization and inquiry skills. This class is determined to do what is best for their future success!
My Project
AVID is all about collaboration. Every week, twice a week, my students engage in tutorials with college aged tutors that come in to support learning and facilitate student groups.
Students work on their public speaking skills by presenting a question or concept from core classes that are are struggling with.
The group works together to guide the presenter through their question to the correct solution. There is a process designed by AVID that the students must follow and white boards are essential to that process.
Having good quality and easy to put away white boards and stands will help in the ease of set up for tutorial days. Thank you for your support!
