The children in my classroom come from all walks of life. Their families not only come from various places in the United States, but also have immigrated from around the globe, including Russia, the Philippines, Mexico, and the Middle East. They reside in a lower socioeconomic area and don't always have access to the latest and greatest school supplies and technology. We are a Title I school and our families can't offer our students the funding that the more affluent schools in our district can offer. Although they are all third graders, each child's learning style is unique, and I am constantly striving to satisfy those individual needs. They are amazing and eager to experience all that I can bring into our classroom.
My Project
These binders, divider tabs, and pencil pouches will help set my students on the right path to begin the AVID system (Advancement Via Individual Determination) in our classroom. My students will be taught skills on being organized at an early age so they are better prepared for their future schooling and careers.
Imagine being able to help close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
By contributing to my classroom project, you will be doing just that. The AVID system helps prepare students by teaching them organization and note-taking skills, as well as the responsibility needed to meet these goals.
I am already experiencing how the AVID system is helping my students, and with your generous donation, I hope to continue helping them build on these skills.
