My Students
I am a Dual Language Immersion teacher that teaches fifty avid readers with dissimilar reading abilities and interest. They independently immerse themselves in books without prompting. Their yearning to acquire new information and experiences through literature is awe-inspiring. My voracious readers love to share graphic novels and informational texts and as a result, it incited student led literature circles and book clubs.
These stead-fast readers delight in reading independently and buddy reading with peers.
My scholars are relentless readers who deserve a classroom library filled with GOOD FIT BOOKS that accommodate their academic and personal reading interest.
My Project
My students need books that will continue to challenge their reading skills and the Who Would Win series is ideal. This series would improve comprehension skills and teach readers how to infer and evaluate informational text. Not to mention, this series would boost vocabulary knowledge naturally, as readers delve into interesting topics.
A compelling book series can transform transitional readers into probable readers.
Our current classroom offers readers a variety of books that meets most reader's interest. However, student reading surveys disclosed that the library lacked graphic novels. My readers expressed that graphic novels increase reading engagement independently and among peers. But most importantly, they are just plain FUN - which is what reading should truly be about.
These new additions to our classroom library will help my readers reach the ultimate goal of having a GREAT literate environment with proficient readers and thinkers!
