My Students

We are a 4th grade fully practicing AVID classroom. One of the components to AVID is to teach students organization. Having this space will help students keep their desks clutter free. They will be able to find their materials quicker with less time waisted looking for things.

Our classroom is in a title 1 building with a high poverty ratio.

The students range in academics from special education to gifted. Currently there are 23 students. We are in a highly mobile area where the classroom size can grow or shrink from the first day to the last day of the school year. My students need help in their organization.

My Project

Having these mailboxes will help my students in many ways. The mailboxes will be an area for students to place all notes that need to go home and their graded materials. One aspect about AVID is about teaching students how to be organized and how to be successful. This is just one way that I will help them learn to be more organized.

Having these mailboxes will help our classroom environment by having less wasted time finding materials in their desks.

They will also learn a key strategy to success is organization. I will be able to ensure parent notices and graded materials are going home by glancing at their mailboxes improving parent communication.
