Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 10 autism students ranging in age from kindergarten through fourth grade. My students were all impacted by Hurricane Harvey in devastating fashion. Most of their homes flooded or had standing water.
My autism students thrive on routine and structure and Harvey impacted their routines at home.
I'm hoping creating projects here on DonorsChoose.org will help them feel more comfortable in the school setting and help me as their teacher create that comfortable classroom environment to meet their needs.
My Project
My autism students have a lot of energy from our school lacking a play ground. My students have a motor lab, but it lacks equipment to improve their gross motor development. A sit and spin will help build their balance and coordination and allow us to help them have activities to do while we spend time in motor lab. The ball chair will allow my students to get wiggles out mid lesson while continuing to stay seated and focused on learning activities.
A ball chair and sit and spin will improve my autism students balance, coordination and gross motor development while making learning fun!
With your generous donation we can fill our boring motor lab with equipment to help my students learn and grow!
