This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with an amazing group of scholars who come to school eager and ready to grow their brains! They come to school with many adverse experiences at home and are still capable of putting their best foot forward. There is a mixed group of socio-economic students ranging from middle to low-income earning. However, their motivation and drive to succeed surpasses their circumstances.
With your support, I hope to help my students reach their full potential and share their learning journey!
They have proven capable of so much more than what most people have given them credit for. Our school philosophy is "Work hard. Be nice." to prepare our scholars for college and the career of their choosing. Our scholars work hard to achieve this through their practices every single day!
My Project
In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, we will engage in various activities and even have an Autism Awareness Show! Our school will be celebrating our children and families with autism by raising awareness and acceptance.
Teachers will be celebrity readers and read books that promote the understanding and acceptance of autism.
There are 5 kindergarten classrooms. Each classroom will receive these books promoting autism acceptance and understanding.
Teachers will swap their normal read aloud books for books that help children understand Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Raising awareness through books gives children the opportunity to support their peers with autism and special needs.
