Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are under the autism umbrella. They have varying degrees of autism spectrum disorders.
My students with autism go from students who are non-verbal and show critical communication needs to students who are in need of extensive learning of social and daily life functioning skills.
They are eager to learn every day and become the best they can be with as many learning experiences as I can possibly provide them. Every day is a possibility to gain more and more skills to have a better future.
My Project
The supplies for our sensory room are something my kids and other students within the program will greatly benefit from.
Around 80% of our students have high sensory needs and will use the sensory room as needed while they navigate the school day.
We strive to provide breaks throughout the academic day for our students. However, many needs will only be met by open spaces where they can address their sensory needs in order to come back to a learning/academic based activity. Each student will utilize the space according to their unique needs.
