My Students

This will be my first year teaching in a Total Communication Unit in Dallas Independent School District at an elementary school. The TC unit is uniquely designed for students with Autism. It is my due diligence to create a safe and fun learning environment for my students. Therefore, with your help, I will be able to have the needed necessities for my class. Students with Autism are sensory driven individuals. With your donations, I will be able to provide my students with the sensory items that will help elevate my sensory area that I have designated in my room to help them de-stimulate and relax when they become overwhelmed or just need a break!

My Project

With your help, I will be able to furnish areas in my classroom, have materials to implement work based learning stations, provide a variety of manipulatives to differentiate instruction for my diverse learners, and extend opportunities for my students to decrease their sensitivities from a variety of sensory activities.

Autistic students are routine driven.

With the materials for this project, it will allow me to operate my stations efficiently and make sure my routines are consistent. Since autistic students are easily over-stimulated, I want to ensure that I have ways and tools that will assist me with de-stimulating my students when they become overwhelmed.
