Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is for 9 multicultural and bilingual books. These books will support the students whos home language is Spanish. Many of the students that come to me have a home language other then English. When we have books to read that are in their home language this helps them feel more comfortable. We also need books that represent the children in the class. It is very helpful to have books with children of many races so they can see others that look like them. It really helps children with autism to see children and their facial expressions to be able to learn about feeling and emotion. These books would be great for that.

Children with autism also have a very hard time sitting still to listen to a book.

That's why we need sensory and fidget items. Having a basket available to pick from helps them sit still and listen and look at books when their hands are busy.
