Help me give my students room dividers to structure the room in a way proven to benefit students with autism, as well as provide sensory materials and social skills games.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students all have special needs that cannot be fully met in the general education classroom. Most have autism, and with that comes sensory issues and a social skills deficits. They are all smart in different ways and deserve a chance to have all of their needs met to reach their full potential. They need a room with more physical structure, as well as more sensory learning and opportunities to practice social skills they have learned through direct instruction.
My Project
Visual dividers will give clear boundaries in where students do each type of learning activity, as well as cut down on behaviors and distractions. Sensory materials are needed to improve behavior and learning, as well as provide a calming environment for students.
Social skills is a hard area for students with autism, and games are proven to be a fun and engaging way to learn to apply social skills they were taught through direct instruction.
These items will continue to benefit students in the self contained room for years. Thank you for helping me help my students reach their full potential!
